Last month, Chanel announced that on November 6th, it will add to its 2020 the presentation of the cruise collection will be hosted by Hong Kong's Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. This collection was already on show in Paris in the spring. Still, such plans can change quickly, with the Women's Wear Daily fashion house reporting that they are considering canceling the show due to protests in the city.
Protests against the Hong Kong anti-extradition bill have been going on here for months. The political crisis in Hong Kong was triggered by public opposition to the planned extradition law to mainland China, and protests have grown into a broader movement for democratic rights in a semi-autonomous city.
"As with other brands, we are closely monitoring the situation in Hong Kong, but we have not yet reached a final decision," commented fashion house Chanel.
