The art of mixology - Dutch-born Mike van Bruggen's love of experimentation reveals 10 new signature cocktails that are now available to enjoy at Bank Bar.

Meet: Mike van Bruggen, the Head of Mixology at The Bank Bar. Born in the Netherlands, he is not only insanely talented at mixing cocktails, he has also made a name for himself in the cocktail industry by winning several competitions.

His passion for mixology began at a young age when he experimented with different flavours and ingredients to create unique drinks for his family and friends. He spent countless hours studying the art of mixology and familiarising himself with different spirits, ingredients and techniques.

His dedication and hard work paid off when he started participating in various cocktail competitions. His innovative and creative cocktails caught the attention of the judges and the public alike. He quickly became a sought-after mixologist, creating unique cocktail menus for several renowned bars.

With cocktails it is like in many areas of life. Only when the basis is right can something good come out of it. The bar team around Bar Manager Martin Holzer, Head of Mixology Mike van Bruggen and Head Bartender Patrik Kincses prove this with their creative cocktails in the latest edition of The Bank Times. Only the best products have made it into the drinks and thus onto the menu.

A single grain of silver can be pressed into a sheet 150 times thinner than an average sheet of paper. The result is the finest silver dust, which gives this refreshingly floral cocktail with nuances of lavender and lemon that certain something.

Just as all the gold on earth comes from 200 meteorites that hit the planet over 200 million years ago, this cocktail is a real taste explosion. Tropically fruity with a slight hint of hops. A drink that can hardly be outweighed by gold.

Oats are one of the few crops that can grow at high altitudes and in cold climates such as Scotland, Norway and Tibet. Around the world, this raw material is used for a wide variety of purposes. In the case of our cocktail, oats form the basis for a balanced, full-bodied drinking pleasure. A hint of banana provides the right amount of fruit in this drink.

OAT TRADES

Ethanol fermentation, also known as alcoholic fermentation, is the oldest biotechnology known to mankind. We make use of this and use only the best alcohol for this strong cocktail. Fine dill and sherry notes round off the taste experience.
