The French luxury company is expanding its fragrance portfolio. With "California Dream", Maître Parfumeur Jacques Cavallier Belletrud captures the atmosphere of the Californian sunset. L'Officiel Austria explores how to translate this olfactory experience into reality. 

Travel has been Louis Vuitton&#39;s inspiration from the very beginning. After all, the fashion house, which now covers a broad spectrum from ready-to-wear to interior, has its origins in the manufacture of exclusive luggage. So it is hardly surprising that the fragrances are also meant to carry you off to distant places. The latest example is &quot;California Dream&quot;, the latest launch of the luxury label, for which California&#39;s picturesque sunset is the inspiration. The nose behind Parfum de Cologne, Ma&icirc;tre Parfumeur Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, explains how this can be translated into olfactory notes: &quot;My starting point was to create warmth that envelops coolness.&rdquo;

Opposites attract 
&quot;There is always this contrast, how to mix explosive freshness with softer notes, which allows the contrasts to fully unfold on the skin,&quot; Belletrud continues. Translated into fragrances, this is achieved by means of heart notes of mandarin orange and the fragrances ambrette and benzoin. &quot;The tangerine has as many facets as the sky at sunset. It has a citrus, but also a floral aspect in addition to fruity notes. It creates a horizon that expands musky with warmth,&quot; says the perfumer, &quot;Ambrette has accents of moist earth and pear. Benzoin has a soft, crackling warmth. It&#39;s the last light of day that heralds the joys of the coming night.&quot;

Artistic note 
For the flacon and the packaging, they have also thought of something special: As with the predecessors &quot;Sun Song&quot;, &quot;Cactus Garden&quot; and &quot;Afternoon Swim&quot;, Alex Israel is responsible for the harmonious design. Born in Los Angeles, the multimedia artist is not only a big name in the creative scene, but also a household name to fashion lovers. Last year, along with five other artists, he redesigned an icon of the house, the &quot;Capucines&quot; bag. One of his motifs also adorns the exclusive travel case. The look alone, but also the exciting musk-citrus contrast, makes the fragrance a must-have for travelers.
