The magic of numbers: Interview with Numerology Expert Edith Steller
A path to more success, fulfilment and harmony in life: What the symbolism of numbers reveals about us and how we can make use of it for ourselves, we found out in a conversation with coach, mental trainer and numerologist Edith Steller.
It is written in the numbers
How do I find my calling? How do I create fulfilling relationships? Where lie my strengths and potentials? What is my mission in life? These are questions we have probably all asked ourselves at one time or another. It's about searching for a deeper meaning in what we do and in what we experience. The answers to these questions do not have to remain a mystery, if we have the courage to go search for the answers...
Numerology can give us insight and more clarity about where our life path wants to lead us. Our first and last name, our date of birth and the exact time of our birth reveal far more about us than we might think is possible. In conversation with the well-known German numerologist Edith Steller, we learned amazing and fascinating things about the symbolism and meaning of numbers.
"People see themselves as they have been shaped and brought up, as life has made them. Numerology, on the other hand, sees the people as they really are."
Ms Steller, for those who have never heard of it, what is numerology?
Edith Steller: "Numerology is basically the instruction manual of life, which means that numerology makes about 30 calculations for a personality analysis. These calculations are made from the first name, the last name, the date and time of birth. The first name is the character of a person. The family name is the family structure. The date of birth is what we brought here because people think they can only do what they have learned and studied. That is not true. We humans have brought at least 30 talents and potentials with us into life. It's just that if they are not nurtured in childhood, later on we don't know that we have them. People see themselves the way they were shaped and brought up, the way life made them. Numerology, on the other hand, sees people as they really are. The date of birth is rigid, you cannot change that, but the name is not. Only if you change a single letter does change the entire life plan."
What is the difference between numerology and astrology?
Edith Steller: "I don't know much about astrology, but I know that astrology works with planets. I also have astrologers in my network who combine both, and they always say that numerology goes even deeper simply because it offers approaches to solutions. People usually come to us with an issue or a problem. When we recognise that, it is one thing, but the client then asks 'What should I do now?'. Numerology can offer approaches to solutions so that things can be changed."
Can numerology help us in every area of life and at every age?
Edith Steller: "Yes, it helps children and parents, for example, so that parents know how they can best support their child. It helps young people because they don't yet have any life experience and they also don't know their talents yet. It helps to show them what their common thread is so that they can make better decisions when choosing a career. It helps with partnerships that are in crisis. I always say that out of ten break-ups, eight wouldn't have to be break-ups at all, but there are simply misunderstandings because one person doesn't know the other, and wants to change him or her."
And how is it regarding job life?
Edith Steller: "It's also important when it comes to finding a career - because most of the times, in the middle of our life, we have the desire to completely change our career once again. Many people then say 'I would like to do something else, but I haven't learned anything else.' Numerology offers a potential analysis where you can see exactly which talents, which abilities, which potentials you have in you and what you can do with these qualities. Of course, it also helps when you are at a more mature age to support your children and grandchildren or to see what life has brought you and what it still has in store for you."
How does a numerology consultation work?
Edith Steller: "The client usually calls me, then we make an appointment. I now work 98% online because my clients are from all over the world. The client then gets a confirmation asking for the data we need to prepare the analysis. One should schedule about one hour for a consultation. I always record the entire conversation, because in over 30 years of professional experience I have simply noticed that you always hear what is relevant at the moment. When the client listens to the recording a year later, he hears it with completely different ears. It's also good if you're told something for an hour, you can't remember it all. That way you can listen to the whole thing again anytime."
What issues would you say people come to you with the most often?
Edith Steller: "Most often because of love and because of the career. Those are the biggest topics. Meanwhile, the younger generation also feels very addressed. I have integrated my godchild, who is born in 2000, into my company. Young people are so fascinated by these things: Now it's about emotions, now it's about feelings. We are in a completely different time period than I remember from my youth."
Most people have probably heard of the life number. What is a life number and what does it say about us?
Edith Steller: "Well, the life number is the cross sum of the date of birth including 1900 or 2000. That means you take all the numbers from the date of birth and add them up crosswise. Then you probably get a two-digit number and this two-digit number is reduced again to a one-digit number. This life number tells you what you are already super good at in life: What you brought with you, you didn't have to learn, it's just in your blood. You can do it and you do it without thinking about it. However, this is often misunderstood or also wrongly described in books, because it is always said that the life number is your life goal. That is not true. The life number is about what a person is good at."
What, on the other hand, then says something about our life task?
Edith Steller: "If we now take first name and surname, letters are converted into numbers and then the sum of the digits is taken and this sum of the digits of the name - which can change in life when we marry or when we take our full name instead of a nickname - that is what your mission in life entails. What you have set out to do, where you want to go, where you want to be... Of course, knowing this is wonderful and great, because then you can steer the whole thing a little bit in the right direction."
In which situations in your life has your knowledge of numerology been particularly helpful?
Edith Steller: "It helps me basically every day, I always say 'Numerology belongs into every household and every company'. As soon as you have to deal with people, it is wonderful to have this kind of knowledge. It helps me every day because I see people as they really are. I can respond to them in a completely different way because I can see immediately whether they are emotional people, in which case they need emotions and they need sympathy. If it's a practitioner, then I don't have to talk much at all, I just say, "Look, try this out". If it's a theoretician, then I have to be able to explain it well. That means I can manage the interaction with the customer in such a way that the customer feels understood."
Where else?
Edith Steller: "Additionally, it helps me, of course, but it also helps my clients a lot in the entrepreneurial area. When is the right time to start something, to start a business? Because you don't want to miss the mark too often or somehow have a business where you don't have enough money or enough customers. Many people now take advantage of this to get business advice, also in the area of human resources. If a company stops looking at certifications and diplomas and looks at the qualities of the employee and then just assigns people to slightly different tasks, the entire working atmosphere changes. People are happy again because they are challenged in a positive way."
Is there a way how everyone of us can get the magic of numbers to help us in our daily lives?
Edith Steller: "Yes, first and foremost people buy books. It's really not evaluative, but simply descriptive: there are various calculations and a text for each calculation in these books. But it often happens that one text contradicts the other text. Then people get confused and in the end they ask themselves what is really true. I did it differently. I created the cost-free Growth Day. It is held online every two months and consists of two-and-a-half-hour workshops on various topics. One time it's about personality, then about sales and distribution, another time it's about love or about one's own soul plan or about career, success and finances. I also make three different calculations with the participants, which they can calculate and evaluate themselves at home. Those who want to know more often then sign up for a seminar."
"Listen to your inner voice. The mind always wants the best for others. But your gut feeling, your intuition, your heart want the best for you."
To conclude, is there anything else you would like to leave our readers with?
Edith Steller: Yes, I would like to urge every single reader from the bottom of my heart: Listen to your inner voice. The mind always wants the best for others. But your gut feeling, your intuition, your heart want the best for you. Therefore, always act from the heart. Be intuitive. If you are not sure, close your eyes. Feel inside. If it feels good... Say yes. If it doesn't feel good... Say no. That doesn't mean it has to be a no forever, but it might not be the right path at the moment. When you start to live your life with self-confidence, self-love and self-worth, then you have the foundation for your true origin and you will achieve everything in life that you set your mind to.
Edith Steller was born in the Black Forest, but has lived in Munich for over 30 years. She came to numerology when a neighbour gifted her a book many years ago: "The Lexicon of Medieval Numerical Mysticism". At first she didn't know what to do with it, but Pythagoras caught her interest. "Everything is number and polarity," he said. Polarity means something like "everything has a counterpart". That is why rational mathematics also has a counterpart - the symbolism of numbers, numerology. For many years, she has been supporting people in gaining more clarity and thus creating a more fulfilled life, also with the help of numerology. You can find out more about Edith Steller on her website www.edithsteller.com. At the Growth Day, which takes place every two months, and on her YouTube channel, she shares her knowledge with others free of charge (in German).
